On foot
Walking is a good way to move around but San Francisco does have many hills. Cross streets: San Francisco streets are numbered 100 per block.
By public transit
San Francisco 's Municipal Railway
The Muni covers most areas visitors want to visit. An all day Muni Passport is available.
The Muni Metro connects to BART and the CalTrain terminus at 4th and King Street . Streetcar Line F uses streetcars from Fisherman's Wharf south along the waterfront Embarcadero to the ferry building at the foot of Market Street and on to the Castro district.
Cable Cars
Cable cars run on three lines between Market Street and Fisherman's Wharf and a fun and popular tourist attraction. Invented in San Francisco by Andrew Hallidie in the 1870's. (415 673 6864).
BART
BART has eight stations and travels across the Bay to Berkeley , Oakland and the airport.
By taxi
Taxis in San Francisco can be hard to find and take time if called.
